Who am I? I’m a young woman in the North East of England who has spent her life writing her way through hundreds of characters and stories and themes. I’ve tried everything from children’s to horror to mystery and it wasn’t until I wrote my novel that I think I finally realised what I enjoyed writing the most. Young adult fiction. For some reason it had never occurred to me, yet it seems that a lot of my writing focuses on the struggles and adversities of young people and the challenges they face in real life.
I guess it makes a lot of sense really. I studied in Youth and Community work and this really gave me a sense of the issues young people come up against while struggling to face day to day life with their friends and peers.
I also discovered I love reading young adult fiction too. I’ve read all of those books that hundreds of other people have, the Harry Potter series and the Twilight series too. But I’ve also explored things off the beaten path. Have you heard of Experiment in Terror? No? Well you should check it out. The story, set over a series of books has gripped me from the very beginning with characters I really feel for. It’s written by Karina Halle who has also written several other series of books.
Apart from writing and reading, I love getting involved in crafts such as scrapbooking and I’m willing to give anything a go once. Well, almost anything!
